This Monday morning, our Grade 1 student Guo Kaisheng’s father came to the auditorium and brought us an open lecture about “shipping”.
When listening to the word “shipping”, students feel confused. Through the vivid explanation from Mr. Guo, we are no longer unfamiliar with the traditional transportation industry. Even a pen or a book that may seem insignificant, might have been floating across the sea, after several days or even months to come to our daily life.
After understanding the shipping and air export process, the students were turned into “small entrepreneurs”, trying to choose different modes of transportation according to the characteristics of different goods, transportation costs and destinations.
Under the background of economic globalization, the developed transportation industry has narrowed the difference of the world. This lecture reduced the distance between the “sea” and the students.

On 14th of May, G3 students had the opportunity to attend a lecture on interesting science which was given by Professor Sun Qiang known as the ‘father of cloned monkeys’. Many thanks to the mother of P3A student, Zhao Zining for her invitation to Professor Sun who started an intelligence tour for us.
First, Professor Sun showed us some amazing pictures. We were struck by many questions like ‘Why do the pictures animate?’ ‘Why one of the triangle in the same picture is brighter? ’ ‘Why can I see the grey dot? ’And these questions revealed a truth that not all that we saw is not true. Then, Professor Sun quoted an essay, Two children’s Debate on the Moon to encourage the students to think. Many students were aroused interest in it and raised their hands, trying to answer the questions. In the end, we made a conclusion that think more was helpful.
Where else can we find the interesting science? Looking at a row of numbers on PPT, the students had many ideas and some of them knew the answers. They were ‘Fibonacci series’. With the explanation of Professor Sun, we began to know about the series and know how use the series. Some students were so surprised by usefulness of Math that they seemed to make a discussion to explore the Math world.
At the end of the lecture, Professor Sun introduced us two cloned monkeys, ‘Zhongzhong’ and ‘Huahua’ in a video. The two cloned monkeys were born on 27th of Oct and 5th of Dec 2017, which are the first two cell-cloned apes. We were surprised by their resemblance and cuteness. I can tell that ‘Zhongzhong’ is more active. But can you recognize two monkeys? If you want to try, why don’t you find the video online?
