本周，万源城协和双语学校小学部的Spelling Bee英语拼字比赛如约而至，来自各个年级的孩子们成为了优秀的单词拼写者，展开了激烈的竞争。This week, the Spelling Bee competition in SUIS was held as scheduled, with children from all grades competing to be the best spellers. Spelling Bee 英语拼写大赛成立于1925年，是美国家喻户晓的英文拼字竞赛活动。选手要求是15岁以下并且最高不超过8年级（相当于国内初中毕业）。比赛的时候，孩子们会在台上PK英文单词拼写，层层选拔，单词难度不断升级，最终选出最强的冠军。Spelling Bee was founded in 1925. It is a household Spelling Bee competition in America. Contestants are required to be under 15 years of age and no more than grade 8 (equivalent to domestic junior high school graduation). During the competition, the children will spell English words on the stage. Layer upon layer of selection, word difficulty is escalating, and finally choose the champion. Spelling Bee 不仅能够增加英语词汇量，更重要的是帮助学生提高英语拼写能力。学生可以根据单词的发音，拼写单词。这一过程中，学生需要总结单词发音规则等，为将来的英语学习提供很大的帮助。Spelling Bee can not only increase the vocabulary of English, but also help students improve their Spelling ability. Students can spell words according to their pronunciation. In this process, students need to summarize the pronunciation rules of words and so on, which will be of great help to their future English learning.
比赛开始，孩子们都跃跃欲试，他们仔细思考着老师说出的单词，然后需要一字不差地拼写出这个单词。在比赛的过程中，我们看到大家都做好了充足的准备，有的孩子能够脱口而出，有的孩子在稍加思索之后，也能够自信满满地拼写出单词。At the beginning of the competition, the children were all eager to try. They thought about the word spoken by the teacher carefully, and then they needed to spell it word for word. During the competition, we saw that everyone was fully prepared. Some children could blurt out the words, and some children could spell out the words confidently after a little thought. 当然，在比赛的过程中也有残酷的一面，碰到有的单词突然忘记了或者没有拼写完全正确，那就会面临被淘汰的结果。不过，在场的观众们都给了每个参赛者热烈的掌声，让他们知道，每个人都看到了他们的努力。Of course, there was also a cruel side in the process of competition. If you suddenly forget some words or do not spell them correctly, you will be eliminated. However, the audience gave each contestant warm applause, and to let them know that everyone saw their efforts. 今年，我们还增加了有趣的游戏环节：你画我猜和悄悄传话。第一个游戏中，孩子们准备好了许多单词表里面的单词。他们画在纸片上，让现场的观众们来猜一猜，图片上画的是什么东西。另一个游戏中，十个孩子依次站成一排，第一个孩子要将听到的一句英文句子依次传递给下一个孩子，然后看看最后一个孩子能不能完全正确地将这句话再说出来。This year, we also added a fun part of the game: You Draw and I Guess and Whisper words. In the first game, the children prepared many words in the list. They drew them on pieces of paper and asked the audience to guess what they were drawing. In another game, ten children stood in a row in turn.
