Topics Inquiry Open Class

12月14日，万源校区小学部主办了协和集团跨校区主题探究课教研活动，为来自其它协和兄弟姊妹学校的20多名专业教师提供了两节精彩纷呈的主题探究课。协和厦门，青浦，虹桥，浦东，无锡，尚音各个校区近30名教师都表达了对课堂的肯定与赞赏，并且逐一分享了对课堂的点评。这两节课充分体现了老师对探究式教学的深刻理解，展示了高水准的探究教学与学习。

On December 14th, the Primary School of Wanyuan Campus hosted the Cross-Campus Inquiry Professional Day, and provided two exciting demo class for nearly 30 teachers from Xiamen, Qingpu, Hongqiao, Pudong, Wuxi, Shangyin and other campuses. Teachers attended all expressed their affirmation and appreciation for the demo lessons, and shared their comments on the teaching and learning: the two lessons fully reflect teacher’s deep understanding of inquiry-based teaching and demonstrate high level of inquiry teaching and learning.

『四年级 G4 』

在四年级，Christelle老师和Licca老师正在教授古埃及单元，中心思想是“博物馆可以把古埃及文明带回到现代生活”。第一节课，小组学生通过分任务阅读，获取了尼罗河对古埃及人生活影响的各方面信息，在小组内进行分享，并形成了集体的思维导图。第二节课，学生需要通过制作一张海报，为自己的埃及博物馆增加一份关于尼罗河的介绍。

In the fourth grade class, Ms. Christelle and Ms.Licca are teaching the Ancient Egypt unit. The big idea is “Museums can bring ancient Egyptian civilization back to life”. In the first class, students obtained information of various aspects of the impact of the Nile River on the lives of ancient Egyptians through jigsaw reading, shared in the group, and formed a collective mind map. In the second class, students need to create a poster to add an introduction about the Nile River to their Egyptian museum.

在一年级， Cearon老师和Rachel老师正在教授“节庆”单元，中心思想是“节日帮助人们记住重要的庆祝活动。学生合作学习了节庆食物，并且调动自己五种感官来了解食物，并且思考中国新年食物背后的含义。

In the first grade class, Ms.Cearon and Ms.Rachel are teaching the “celebrations” unit. The big idea is “Celebrations help people remember important events.

Students worked together to learn about festive food, and utilized their five senses to understand the food and think about the meaning behind Chinese New Year food.

学生首先猜测了礼盒里面的内容，然后将食物分类成中国传统食物和非传统食物，全班观看了关于年兽的故事，最后小组合作制作万源先锋节庆食物菜单。

Students first guessed what is inside of the gift box, then sorted the food into traditional Chinese food and non-traditional food. Later, the whole class watched the story about the Nian Monster, and finally students worked in group together to make the Wanyuan Pioneer Festival food menu.

此次活动是一次非常宝贵的机会，让老师们有机会交流思想，向其他校区的老师学习。这必将有利于老师日后的教学，也将造福于学生的成长。

It’s a good and precious chance for teachers to exchange ideas, learn from teachers in other campuses, which would definitely benefit their future teaching and ultimately good for all the students in SUIS.
