Topics Inquiry Open Class
On Wednesday 16th October, the Primary Inquiry department opened its doors to teachers from other SUIS campuses and showcased Inquiry teaching and learning at its best. Corynn and Irene were rounding up a unit that investigated how Earth and humans are interconnected. Students were at the centre of their own learning process as they developed their own rubrics to assess a dramatic performance of their research findings. Editing the rubrics throughout the class and then putting them into practice was followed by free talk to reflect on their learning. The onlookers were thoroughly impressed by the innovative planning, and the students’ keen knowledge of themselves as learners.
Down in Grade 2, Kerrie and Caroline were taking their students on a whirlwind journey around Shanghai. Showing off the in-depth knowledge of the city they had acquired, students were then tasked with looking at the challenges faced by rapidly developing cities. Fortunately it seems like cities have a bright future in the hands of SUIS Wanyuan Topic Inquiry students as they set about coming up with a plethora of inventive solutions!
