Different from all the other academic ECAs and events, being in such a huge musical production is a completely fresh thing for me. Tracy’s courage and love inspire me and brighten my life by bringing fun and joys. As a team of over 50 strangers at very first, the hardest parts is to really get to know each other and cooperate as one unity. I really appreciate that this cast gives me warmth and supports, and offers me chances to shine together with old fellows and new friends.不得不说音乐剧的演出则不同于之前任何学术类的活动和竞赛，它给予了我新的世界。Tracy的纯真，热情，无畏，善良打动了我，也让我对生活有了新的感受。对于我们这个超过五十个人的制作组来说，最困难的就是要快速的认识新的朋友，并且完美的配合。我十分感谢Hairspray这个剧组能给予我机会，与熟悉的朋友以及全新的面孔一起在舞台上发光发亮。Music and drama are two of the most important elements of my life, and they are the things I will pursue for my whole life. Fortunately, Seaweed is such an energetic musician. So every time I am at rehearsal, I can’t wait but start to sing and dance his passionate lines. I’m Carol Cao in grade nine. Hairspray is a special and precious opportunity for me. In the show, I play the role of “Penny”. She is a naive and funny white girl, but she is kind, does not discriminate against black people, and tries her best to help them. I am quite similar to her in character, so acting as her is not hard. However, Penny has a lot of high-pitched songs in this musical which is a big challenge for me. I always tell myself to practice more, try to avoid mistakes, and try to be better. I’m John from grade 12. I’m Corny Collins in the hairspray, which is the host of the Ultra Clutch Hairspray. As one of the main roles, Corny is the most conversable and sanguine character, which is very similar to my real personality. As my first year in the US high school, there are lots of brand new affairs to try, including the musical play. Providing me with not only the chance to get to know students from different grades, it is also a stage that I can find out my interests. As a freshman, getting the role of Link is my honor. In my opinion, a few difficult thing about being in the cast include: putting myself totally into the scene, getting along with other actors quickly, and cooperating with them well in the performance. I am Velma in the Hairspray, who is a very mean character. To act like “Velma’ is the most difficult thing to me because this character has an exact opposite personality to me. Every time I am in rehearsal, I think I can’t act “Velma” out. You know, a good drama show normally exaggerates every emotion and action. However, I tell myself every time during the rehearsal “Be in this character, you can have some mistakes on lines, but you cannot let the audience know.” People won’t know you have false in your lines as long as you stay in your character. “When I’m on the stage, I am Velma.”大家好，我是Candice Ying。我是《发胶》中的Velma，这是一个非常刻薄的角色。扮演“Velma”对我来说是很困难的事，因为这个角色和我的性格完全相反。每次排练的时候，我都不能把“Velma”演出来。一个好的戏剧表演通常是夸大每一种情绪和行为，所以，每次排练的时候，我都告诉自己:“演这个角色，你可能会在台词中出现一些错误，但你不能让观众知道。”“有时候，只要你坚持自己的性格，人们就不会知道你的台词是假的。I’m Emily, and I play the role of Amber in Hairspray. In the play, she is Velma’s daughter and also a bad girl who likes to show off. During the rehearsal, I feel that the hardest part of being a villain is to imitate them. You have to abandon your usual self to play a role that is completely different from your personality. But without the villains, a play would not be exciting. I believe that “Make each day count by setting specific goals to succeed, then putting forth every effort to exceed your own expectations.”我是Emily，我在《发胶》中扮演Amber这个角色。在剧中，她是Velma的女儿，也是一个喜欢出风头的坏女孩。在排练的过程中，我觉得作为一个恶棍最难的部分就是模仿他们。你必须放下平常的自己，去扮演一个与你的个性完全不同的角色。但是如果没有这些恶棍，一部戏就不会令人兴奋。我相信“每天设定具体目标，让每一天都过得有意义，然后尽一切努力超越自己的期望。”I am JoJo, and I play Motormouth in Hairspray. This is my first year in this high school as a freshman and there are loads of things I need to be familiar with; therefore, this is a big challenge for me. Motormouth is a BIG character, she does everything massively. It is very hard for me to get into this character. Also, Motormouth is black, so I am trying my best to feel the way how she feels under that circumstance. However, we are now getting more and more “professional” and more focused, and this show must turn out perfectly. Looking forward to the show!Hi我是JoJo，我在这次的音乐剧中饰演Motormouth这个角色。这是我第一年来到这个高中而且我需要开始熟悉各种东西，所以这个角色对我来说是个很大的挑战。Motormouth这个角色是个非常“大”的人物，她的所有动作语言都是很夸张的。所以对我来说讲很难进入角色。而且Motormouth是个黑人，因此我一直尝试着去感受这个角色的心理，在这种情况下她会怎么反应。无论如何，现在我们的彩排都比刚开始的要专业与集中，希望这次的发胶明星梦能很好的呈现出来。Hi, I’m Didi Hu from G12. I play Edna, Tracy’s mom in Hairspray. Edna is a kind mother, but she strongly disagrees with Tracy’s dream of dancing on the stage at first because of their extreme body shapes. Personally, I sympathize with her because I’m also a overweight girl. Also, I admire her because she is able to break through every difficulty courageously for her daughter Tracy. Acting out the softness of a mother and the changing of Edna’s attitude is very challenging to me. Still I will try my best to present this shy but brave mother in the show.大家好，我是来自12年级的Didi Hu，在这次的音乐剧Hairspray里我扮演的角色是Tracy的妈妈Edna。Edna是一个善良的妈妈，但是因为她和Tracy的极端体型，她曾强烈反对女儿登台跳舞的梦想。作为一个超重的女生，我对此很是感同身受。但令我敬佩的是Edna能够做到为了帮助自己的女儿勇敢地战胜自己对体重的自卑。在Hairspary里，自然地表演出Edna做为一个母亲对女儿的关爱，和她在整部剧里态度的变化对我来说是个极大的挑战。但我也会尽我最大的努力把这位害羞却勇敢的母亲展现出来。
