One of our 12th graders has been admitted to Vanderbilt University College of Arts and Science with Biological Sciences as her academic major. According to 2018 U.S. News & World Report, Vanderbilt University ranks 14th among all national universities, tied with Cornell University and Brown University.

Vanderbilt University is a private research university in Nashville, Tennessee. Founded in 1873, it was named in honor of shipping and rail magnate Cornelius Vanderbilt, who provided the school its initial $1 million endowment. Vanderbilt hoped that the his gift and the greater work of the university would help the sectional wounds inflicted by the Civil War. Nowadays, Vanderbilt University has the reputation of “New Ivies” and “Harvard of the South”.
