In the second semester of the 2017-2018 academic year, the Primary school welcomed the beginning of teaching assessment section in the picturesque April. Based on this assessment, our purpose was to continuously consolidate and improve the teachers’ teaching skills. In the process of preparing, observing, evaluating the classes, we learned from each other and made progress together.

In the Chinese subject group, there were 6 teachers participating in this assessment and each class had its own characteristics. The teaching of the lower grades was full of childlike interest for combining children’s painting with literacy teaching together to stimulate their interest. The classes continuously guided children in guessing and associating, and at the same time they pay attention to different children and joined in the design of differentiated goals. The middle-graded teachers insisted on the true and effective ecological truth of the Chinese language classes, fully integrated the teaching and expression of reading so as to lay a solid foundation for writing expression. The senior classes were also looking for a combination of listening, speaking, reading and writing in language teaching, organically combining reading and writing, emphasizing creative retelling and expansion, and integrating part of classical Chinese, appreciation and understanding, and promoting the study of traditional culture and penetration.
Each teacher was meticulously prepared and the subjects of the Chinese language classes were played out, showing the teachers’ own style characteristics.
English team had four teachers participate the assessment. The four classes all demonstrated the features of the Wanyuan English subject group: the atmosphere of concord, the democracy of learning environment, the ability of self-depending learning, as well as cooperation studying and peer mutual assistance. In the class, the teachers carried out the solid learning in listening, speaking, reading and writing and raised the all-round ability in language skills. Students gained great opportunities to fully experience the classes and improve their thinking quality, cultural awareness and learning ability through the methods of inquiry learning, reading activities, and group cooperation. At the same time, the four classes also have their own characteristics. The teachers’ personal styles are also different and can be described as flourishing. Qin Yan’s teaching was “innovative and tasteful.” Zhou Jiaxuan was “humorous and has potential”. Zhang Zhongyuan’ class was “steady, solid, and of good quality.” Tang Yuxuan impressed us with her “Beautiful Voice and International Style”. Therefore, our English team can be described as “beautiful team”.
By the practice and the experience, students acquired a wealth of mathematics knowledge and developmental skills for sustainable learning in mathematics activities. In this teaching appraisal, the five teachers fully explained how to conduct experiential learning in classroom teaching in different grades.
In the lower grade classes, experience was integrated into the game to stimulate students’ interest in Maths so in this way, the teachers aimed to let the students like mathematics. The middle-grade class allowed students to learn to observe, analyze in the process of experiencing. And the senior class was to cultivate students’ thinking ability, ability to innovate in the experience, summarize, sum up ability, develop students’ critical thinking.
The teachers created a lively and open teaching scenario around the theme of life, allowing students to experience and share in the experience and make our classroom full of vitality. The application of multimedia and other modern teaching methods made the whole teaching process lively, vivid and interesting. It had opened up a new chapter on the road to innovative teaching.
The bilingual group has 4 teachers participating in the course, which fully embodied the distinctive and innovative curriculum of bilingual subjects.
Music class skillfully connected basic music theory, momentum, games, and creative activities together. It focused on tapping the melody and rhythm of the textbooks to demonstrate the good musical qualities of music teachers.
The PE teacher carefully designed a novel and unique teaching aids for sports subjects. The game activities such as starry-sky interception, chasing stars, and meteor card were also carefully organized to allow children to play in middle schools and enjoy learning sports.
The fine arts class attached great importance to the close relationship with life. Chinese and foreign teachers cooperated effectively and used Da Vinci’s masterpieces to creatively learn human sketches. Frequent teacher-student interaction created a harmonious, interactive, inquiring and innovative art learning atmosphere.
IT class cleverly used the Apple conference case and Bluetooth keyboard paradigm, converting abstract knowledge into concrete examples, and gradually guiding students to learn to apply and solve practical problems on the basis of understanding knowledge.
The teaching assessment week is over, but our efforts in teaching have never stopped.
Classroom teaching is an art. It is a kind of creative work. A teacher needs to “have skills in teaching, teaching in a proper way, and dispelling doubts”. It will produce a multiplier effect and improve teaching quality.
The road ahead will be long, I shall keep searching.
